What this document records
Liber vs volume
THIS ENTRY EXPLAINS THE Lib 35 / Vol 36 CONFLICT, AND THE EXPLANATION IS THAT BOTH MAY BE RIGHT. [A.1]'s file endorsement reads "filed in Lib 35 folio 168"; [A.6]'s published abstract cites "Lib. 36, p. 168"; and the NJSA identifies THIS page as Volume 36, page 168. ⇒ these are plausibly two different record series citing the same 5 Feb 1795 action — the Surrogate's liber (35) and the State Record of Wills (36) — which would make both citations valid rather than one of them an error. PLAUSIBLE, NOT ESTABLISHED, and it means an earlier catalog correction ("liber corrected from 36 to 35") may itself need withdrawing. Note the folio is 168 in both, which is what makes a pure transcription error look less likely. Argued on Benjamin Cooper; not asserted here.
