Note
THIS IS THE FIRST RECORD EVIDENCE FOR A MARRIAGE THE CATALOG HAD ONLY FROM A TREE. William G Cooper's marriage to Rosa Caroline Leonard was graded CERTAIN on the strength of her husband being named in her 1918 intestate-estate petition [A.214] and her maiden name appearing on their son's 1951 death certificate [F.345] - but the DATE and PLACE came from FamilySearch tree 27C3-YVB alone, which is a lead and not evidence. They now rest on an index derived from the county's own register.
Reading notes
THE INDEX DATE IS 20 SEPTEMBER 1900; THE FAMILYSEARCH TREE SAYS THE 19TH. One day apart, and both are recorded. The commonest explanation for a one-day gap in Texas county records is that one date is the LICENCE and the other the RETURN (the ceremony), but which is which cannot be told from an index - the film would say. No reconciliation is asserted. The groom is indexed as 'G W Cooper', initials only, and the bride as 'Rosa Leonard' without her middle name; neither age nor parents are given, so the identification rests on the county, the date and the bride's name, all of which match [A.214] and [F.345].
