A two-column register of Floyd Co. marriage returns of 1826 (left = woman's name; centre = by whom married; right = certificate). Tag [partial]: the Tuley–Woodruff return is transcribed; the rest of the page is listed only.

Date correction (2026-06-25): an earlier reading of this entry (2026-06-24) gave the year as 1836; on a 600-DPI re-examination the year reads 1826 in every entry on the page ("7th Feby 1826," "26th day of Feby 1826," and the Tuley line "9th day of February 1826"). The "2" had been misread as a "3." 1826 is also independently confirmed by Phebe & John's eight children (eldest John Wesley Tuley Jr. b. 1827 — a marriage in 1836 is impossible), by Find A Grave, and by the Ancestry tree (which records the marriage as 09 Feb 1826). The prior "1836" reading — including in the earlier filenames — is withdrawn. (L.4's "Feb 1826" was correct all along.)

The goal-relevant return [verbatim]

Phebe Woodruff — by whom married: John T. Hamilton, V.D.M. — "State of Indiana, Floyd County … within license I did on the 9th day of February 1826 join together in the bonds of matrimony the within named John W. Tuley & Phebe Woodruff."

⇒ The marriage of [p.947] Phebe Haines (Woodruff) Tuley (Daniel Sr's gg-granddaughter via Mary (Cooper) Crane → Sarah (Crane) Woodruff) to John W. Tuley (= John Wesley Tuley). Primary-source date 9 Feb 1826, Floyd Co., Indiana (New Albany). Triangulated with FaG memorial 97442727 ([G.242]) + Ancestry tree 31752562.

Third capture — FamilySearch index (maintainer screenshot 2026-06-25): "Marriage Registration (Marriage) · Name Phebe Woodruff · Female · Birth Place Floyd · Marriage Date 9 Feb 1826 · Marriage Place Indiana, United States · Spouse John W Tuley · Page 37 · FHL Film Number 000549329." (The "Birth Place: Floyd" is an index artifact = residence, not her actual NJ birthplace.)

Seth Woodruff appears as the OFFICIATING MINISTER (not a groom) — resolves the p.1478 flag [verbatim]

Re-examined at the image 2026-07-07 (rendered from the Court-film PDF). The register's three columns per page are Date of License | Date of Certificate | Man's Name (left) and Woman's Name | By whom married | Certificate of Marriage (right). Reading across row-by-row, the 2nd row is:

Man's Name Prentice Latham Lamb (cert. 12 [Jan] 1826) — Woman's Name Sarah McCartney — By whom married "Seth Woodruff, P. of the G[ospel]" — Certificate "Marriage Celebrated by me."

⇒ "Seth Woodruff" is in the "By whom married" (officiant) column — directly parallel to "George Locke, P.G." who officiated the row above (Stephen Edwards × Elizabeth Penny). Seth Woodruff was the minister who married Sarah McCartney to Prentice Latham Lamb — NOT the groom. The earlier [desc] reading "Sarah McCartney × Seth Woodruff" was a column-misalignment (it paired the woman's name with the officiant's).

This corroborates [p.1478 Seth Haines Woodruff] rather than conflicting with him: his Find A Grave ([G.245]) styles him "Father Woodruff" (a Baptist funeral notice in the Journal and Messenger) — i.e. a preacher. "Seth Woodruff, P. of the G." officiating in Floyd Co. in Jan 1826 is probably this same Seth Haines Woodruff (same surname, county, era; he was a minister), appearing as celebrant on the same register page where his daughter Phebe ([p.947]) was married (by a different minister, John T. Hamilton). No conflict with his G.245 wife-list; no 1826 father-remarriage — the flag is closed.

Other Floyd Co. 1826 returns on the same page (man × woman, by whom) [verbatim]
