Data from the document [verbatim]
Minister's batch return (William Gray), covering five 1828 marriages, verbatim:
"Nos. 2829–33. This will certify that I united in marriage 1828: Feb. 6th James M. Reeder to Rosetta McCarty March 6th Married James M. Fisher to Catharine Daily April 3rd Married John McKain to Eliza Bone June 17th Married George D. Pierson to Maria Hurin June 20th Married Anthony Snider to Sarah Brant all of this county. As witness my hand. Lebanon, Warren county, 19th July 1828. William Gray."
- Our entry: George D. Pierson to Maria Hurin, 17 June 1828, of Lebanon, Warren Co., Ohio.
- Groom = George Davis Pierson, b. 1808 — per U.S. and International Marriage Records, 1560–1900 (index; spouse indexed "Mary Huren" = Maria Hurin, marriage 1828). ⇒ the "D." in "George D. Pierson" = Davis. (He was b. 1808, so ~20 at marriage; Maria b. 1802 was ~26 — she was the elder by 6 yrs.)
Notes
- Primary-source lock of the marriage of [p.973 Maria (Hurin) Pierson] (Agnes Ludlow Hurin [p.884]'s daughter — the Hurins lived at Lebanon, Warren Co., matching this return). Confirms L.4 on both points — husband George D. Pierson and date (~June 1828 → exact 17 June 1828).
- Explains the Sarah [p.975] error: this very batch also married a "James M. Fisher" (× Catharine Daily, 6 Mar 1828) — a different Fisher from Sarah Hurin's husband Daniel M. Fisher ([C.55], 1832). L.4's mislabel of Sarah's husband as "James M. Fisher" was almost certainly a conflation with this same-county James M. Fisher.
- Resolves the earlier census null: no George-Davis-Pierson × Maria household appears in the 1850 Ohio census (George likely d. pre-1850 or the couple left Ohio) — the 1828 marriage stands independently.
