** UPDATE 2026-06-06 — the certificate was ordered and obtained; the father field was BLANK.The actual Santa Barbara Co. death record (this index's State File #3137) arrived by mail and is catalogued at F.187. The 1905 county register left father + mother columns blank, so the hoped-for "Joseph Cooper" reading does not exist — hop 3→2 is NOT closed**(stays strong
probable). The "order #3137 to close hop 3→2" follow-up below is therefore RESOLVED (pr.49 closed). See guidance notereference_ca_death_records_redacted.md.

Prior F.117 v1 reading (2026-05-17 early)split the COOPER LOUIS S data across two rows — incorrectly attributing the death-date 72905/05/3137 to a "LOUISA" row below. Maintainer high-res tight-crop verification 2026-05-17confirms single LOUIS S row with all the matching data:
- Date 29 July 1905 matches G.133
- Santa Barbara County code 42 matches G.133
- Sex M-W matches Lewis Sanford = male white
- State file #3137
Prior reading "LOUIS S age 42 d. 1917 state file #30713" was a misreading caused by 4x-zoom column-boundary blur. Corrected reading: LOUIS S age 80 (likely; per column code 180 = "1" + "80") d. 29 Jul 1905 state file #3137.
