- Method:
pdftotext -layoutof the full PDF → grep across the entire extracted text (882 KB) for every Cooper-surname variant (Cooper, Coopers, Couper, Cowper, Coper, Kuyper, Kuiper, Cuyper, Kuijper, Cuijper, Kuyp-, Kuper, Cuper, Koop-). Cross-checked against the independent archive.org OCR of the same volume (recordsofdutchre00wrig) — identical result.
Data from the document
- ZERO Cooper-surname entries — any spelling — anywhere in the volume(all three registers: Port Richmond DRC, Moravian, St Andrew's). The only near-collisions are the surname "Hooper"(a distinct Staten Island family: Clement Hooper × Rachel; Martha Hooper; Elisabet Hooper; Abraham Hooper; Philip Hooper — not Cooper) and the Dutch word "Gedoopt"(= "baptized") in the register's running headers.
- 2026-06-03 — sweep extended to the Coriell-network surnames (per L.13a lead-check):ZERO Coriell / Curiel / Coryell / Corriel(any spelling), ZERO Runyon, and ZERO Van Courtanywhere in the volume. = the Sephardic-Coriell/Curiel family (pr.16/J.154) and Daniel Sr's Runyon/Van Court associates were notStaten-Island church families — consistent with their documented Piscataway/Raritan (NJ)seat across the Arthur Kill. The 1711 Richmond-roll surnames that DO appear here are Tysen(= "Tyce"), Marshall, Hooper, and Van Hoorn(= "Van Hoomer") — i.e. the L.13a roll-mates are Staten-Island families, not Coriell-network ones.
- Port Richmond DRC baptism coverage = continuous from 1696.The register's opening heading reads (verbatim): "Gedoopt Bennen Op Staten Eylandt Beginne Van Het Jaer … Anno 1696" (= "Baptized on Staten Island, beginning from the year 1696"). Year-headers run 1696, 1698, 1700, 1701, 1703, 1705, 1706, 1707, 1708, 1709, 1711, 1713, 1715, 1716, 1717, 1718, 1719, 1720, 1721, 1722, 1723, 1724 …onward to 1772. No 1702–1730 gap(a claim found in some secondary web summaries is incorrect for this volume); the sparse early years (no 1697/1699/1702/1704 headers) reflect a small congregation, not a lacuna.
- The volume's St Andrew's Episcopal baptisms begin 1752 and Moravian records 1749 — both far later than the ~1695 window, and both likewise Cooper-null.
What this means for the father-search (analysis → pr.2)
- This is the Staten Island (Port Richmond) Dutch Reformed registerflagged in pr.2 as one of the two best ~1690–1700 / Coriell-relevant church targets. It is freely published, not a paid-acquisition item— the maintainer placed the actual NYG&B Collections Vol IV PDF on disk 2026-06-02 (it is also free full-text on archive.org,
recordsofdutchre00wrig). - The register begins 1696, one year after Daniel Sr's traditional ~1695 birth — so it would nothold Daniel Sr's own baptism, nor any sibling born before 1696. But it doescover the post-1696 sibling window (~1696–1715) cleanly, and shows no Cooper presence whatsoever. This adds Staten Island to the consilience-NULL church set (Raritan F.67, Bergen F.69, Tappan F.70, Hackensack F.71, NYC Collegiate F.72).
- The residual unsearched church gap is now narrowly pre-1696 Staten Island+ Daniel Sr's own 1695 baptism — which no surviving Staten Island Reformed register reaches.
