Transcription and notes
- Source image: (image held in the family archive) (maintainer-supplied 2026-06-18). NJ civil Register of Births in the Township of Green, County of Sussex; page 48. Read via zoom.py 3–5× crops.
- THE PAGE IS NOW LOCATED ON FILM — DGS 4108975, image 57 (Sussex Co. book AF, births), read at the FamilySearch Center 2026-08-20 → F.242. Until now this entry cited only a loose JPG with no film citation at all. The identification is not a guess: four neighbouring families match in the same order — Luther Hill Titus/Estes (Andrew & Maria), Johanna Bagley/Sabrina Bowdy Bailey (James & Matilda), Rachael Jane Cranmer (Peter & Elizabeth), Mary Emma Runion/Brunson (Margaret Ann). File: (image held in the family archive).
- CORRECTION 2026-08-20 — the return year is 1852, not 1853. This entry previously read the header as "from the fourth day of May 1851 to the 31st day of April 1853". Read at 8× on image 57 it is: "from the first day of May — 1851 to the 31st day of April — 1852." The page proves it internally: the clerk's certification at the foot reads "June 26th 1852" (J. Shiner, Clerk), and a return running to April 1853 cannot be certified in June 1852. The clerk also wrote "the 31st day of April" — a date that does not exist; recorded as written.
- The page NUMBER is unresolved. This entry says 48, from the maintainer's JPG. Interpolating from image 89 (= book page 85) at one page per image would put image 57 near page 53. The two disagree; neither is asserted. Possibly the JPG is a different filming (a township copy vs this bound county volume), paginated differently.

Notes (interpretation — not data bullets)
- The son the 1850 census lacked. D.397 (Aug 1850) showed Thomas + Maria Cooper with only daughters Elizabeth + Anna Mary; Britton Slater (b. 1851) was born the next year — primary-source-attesting a male child of the couple. ⇒ p.673 Britton Slater Cooper.
- Father = p.672 Thomas H. Cooper (b. 1822; labourer, Green Twp — matches D.397). ⇒ Britton is the first male Y-carrier on the Robert-Cooper (p.114) candidate branch — but only a Benjamin Y-line carrier IF the doubly-
possiblechain Thomas→Robert→p.2 Benjamin holds (both links unproven; see p.672 / pr.14). - This record names the parents (Thomas + Maria) but not the grandparents, so it does not advance Thomas→Robert. Its value: it gives the branch a forward-traceable male (Britton, b. 1851) to follow toward living Y-carriers.
