What this document records

Not read

Tappan entries 235-4035, the 164 irregular-congregation entries 1767-1778, and the Clarkstown baptisms 1749-1794 were not re-read on the page images.

Nulls

Entries 1-234: no child named Daniel is baptized to a Cuyper / Kuyper parent. The only Daniels baptized in this range are entry 84 (Cornelis Hearingh) and entries 112 and 155 (Jakobus De Klerck x Annetie Van Houten). A search of the whole book for Coriell spellings (Cori[ae]l, Coryel, Curiel, Correl, Corell, Koriel) was run on the PDF text layer only, and found none; that layer is garbled on the appendix pages, so the null is weak there.

Transcription and notes

Heading and editor's note (appendix page 3)

BAPTISMS AT TAPPAN, From Oct. 25 1694, to Jan. 10 1816.

These baptisms are arranged chronologically from beginning to end (Those of Clarkstown are entered on a different plan). The order of each entry is as follows:-Name of child, date of birth, date of baptism, father, mother, witnesses. ... When but one date is given, it is supposed to be that of baptism. ... The figures at the left of the children's names are my own, prefixed for convenience of indexing.

Rows naming the Cuyper / Kuyper family, entries 1-234

Each row as printed: number, child, date(s), father, mother; witnesses after the semicolon.
