Bio, as given on the memorial:
I received 1-11-2017 the following note: "I was able to find the graves of George's wife Anna, his son James Madison (along with the wife of James) & Gus grand-daughter. They are all together. I was hoping to find George but couldn't. I'm assuming that he's buried along side of his wife Anna... since there is room on either side of her for another grave. George must not have a headstone. I walked the entire cemetery and didn't see his stone elsewhere." * 1840 United States Federal Census Name: George Pearson Township: Chester County: Knox State: Ohio Free White Persons - Males - 5 thru 9: 1 John Pearson Free White Persons - Males - 15 thru 19: 1 ? Came to Ohio 1817 to Bradner area 1867. 1st wife Polly Stilley." *** Data supplied by Bill & Barbara Wittner According to the Knox Co., Marriage Record Book, George Pearsons and Mary Ann Peoples were married in Knox Co. on Feb 21 1843. So we think it is possible that the female, age 20-29, in the 1840 census was Mary Stilley since she and a George were married in 1833 and Mary died between 1836-1847. John Pearson could be the male, 5-9, on the 1840 census. Don't know who the other two are -- perhaps nieces, nephews, hired hand, a child that died young (female, under 5)? According to the Chestnut Ridge cemetery record for George, Polly was his first wife. Perhaps Mary went by the name Polly and therefore would be the same person??
