Sutton — an independent, non-Cooper published source (an in-law's biography), so it counts as external corroboration of the L.4 tree (per [[feedback_ae_cooper_sources_not_independent]]).
Data from the document [verbatim] (p. 57)
- "His second wife was Nancy Cooper, daughter of Daniel and Sarah (Houghton) Cooper."
- "To Doctor William L. Sutton and Nancy Cooper were born two sons, Daniel Cooper, who died in infancy, and William Henry."
- "Nancy lived less than five years after her marriage, and was buried near her infant son in the old Cooper graveyard, beside the home in which she was reared."
- Also: p. 63 references Daniel Cooper as the grandfather (in a slave-inheritance context); p. 212 "Nancy Cooper who married William Loftus Sutton" (genealogical record); index (pp. 254, 262): "Cooper, Daniel," "Cooper, Nancy," "Cooper, Sara[h] Houghton."
Significance (interpretation — flagged)
- Independently corroborates the root of Daniel Cooper III's [p.737] Kentucky branch — previously tree-only. Confirms, from a non-Cooper witness: Daniel Cooper (III) × Sarah Houghton; their daughter Nancy (Cooper) Sutton [p.852]; and her two Sutton sons — Daniel Cooper Sutton (d. infancy) = [p.1050] and William Henry Sutton = [p.1049]. (Nancy was Dr. Sutton's 2nd wife; his others were Mary B. Catlett + Ann Tibbs Webb.)
- Corrects [p.852]'s death: Nancy died "less than five years after her marriage" (Aug 1837 ⇒ d. ~1841–42, around son William Henry's 1841 birth), NOT 1862 — the catalog's "1862" was Dr. Sutton's own death year, misapplied.
- New lead — "the old Cooper graveyard, beside the home in which [Nancy] was reared" = a Daniel-Cooper-III family burying ground near his Kentucky home (Fayette/Scott Co.). A target for locating Daniel III's + Sarah Houghton's own graves.
- Ties into the Cooper-Houghton double marriage: Daniel III × Sarah Houghton (here) + brother Joseph [p.669] × Elizabeth Houghton ([C.63]).
