C29 — David Emison (book p.128 / PDF 268) [verbatim]

(In the deed abstract below he is numbered D135.) - D136 Stephen Cooper (11/__/1839–5/29/1891) — bd-Napton, Mo.; m. 12/13/1865 Julia V. Madden — FOLLOWS (below)
Wife-of-each-child not labelled in the book. By dates, D111–D134 (1823–1831) fall in David's 1st marriage (Martha Shannon, m.1822); Stephen Cooper (D136, b.1839) — bearing the "Cooper" middle name — is the son by Mary Ann Cooper. William Quarles (D119, b.1835) sits at the boundary; the book's placement + his "born by the 1st-marriage era" dates suggest Martha Shannon, not Mary Ann — see the [p.1048] / [p.849] correction.
D136 — Stephen Cooper Emison (book p.129 / PDF 272) [verbatim]
"D136 STEPHEN COOPER EMISON, b-11//1839, Scott Co. Ky., son of David & Mary Ann (Cooper) Emison (C29); Ash (B3) He m-12/13/1865, Julia V. Veach · E173 Virginia Madden (1870–), Slater MO, [m.] Charles E. Piper · E174 Charles Harrison (7/9/1872–9/8/1873) · E175 George William (8/14/1874–1/12/1876) · E176 Cora Bennet (1878–), K.C. MO, m. 1901 Rev. A.D. Johnson · E177 Nellie Laughlin (3/11/1879–8/27/1880) · E178 Stephen Cooper Jr (8/24/1883–1/31/1884) · E179 Maria Louise (2/23/1888–8/10/1888). - (Corroborates L.4's "9 desc" for [p.1047]; most died in infancy — only David Hicks, Martha Lewis, Virginia Madden, Cora Bennet reached adulthood.)
Deed abstract (book p.129 "NOTES") — the Estate of Daniel Cooper [verbatim]
"SCOTT CO. KY: DEED Bk.16; p.345; (11/16/1878 – STEPHEN COOPER & JULIA V. (MADDEN) EMISON (D136) of SALINE CO. Mo., appoint WILLIAM QUARLES EMISON (D135) their Attorney, to take possession, etc., of land and legacies particularly from Estates of Daniel Cooper, Decd; Mrs. Elizabeth Gaines, Decd., in Counties of Scott and Fayette, Ky."
- This is a book-cited primary document (Scott Co. KY Deed Book 16, p.345, dated 16 Nov 1878) → tracked as the pull lead [K.58]. It documents that Stephen Cooper Emison [p.1047] was a legatee of the "Estate of Daniel Cooper, Decd." in Scott/Fayette Co., KY — consistent with his being the grandson of Daniel Cooper III [p.737] (via his deceased mother Mary Ann [p.849]). "Mrs. Elizabeth Gaines, Decd." is very likely another Cooper daughter (Elizabeth, a sister of Mary Ann per [p.737]'s daughter list) who married a Gaines and left legacies to her Emison nephews/nieces. ⇒ the deed corroborates the Daniel-III → Mary-Ann sibship and points to a Daniel Cooper estate/settlement naming heirs — a high-value descendant-tree pull (see [p.737] +
todo.md).
