Transcription and notes

The two verbatim passages

Book p. 52 — the first marriage (read at 3x on a 400-DPI render):

"Daniel and Abigail were married at her mother's residence "Hopewell" 3 mo. 4th, 1693, and she died the next year leaving one child, William, the eventual heir."

Book p. 53 — the second marriage (read at 3x on a 400-DPI render):

"On the 26th of 12th mo. 1695, Daniel Cooper took for second wife Sarah Spicer. They were married according to the rites and forms of Friends at her father's home on the North side of the Creek; they had issue: 1st Samuel, 2 Daniel."

What the two passages enumerate

wife married issue, as the register gives it
Abigail Wood 3 mo. 4th, 1693 one child, William
Sarah Spicer 26 of 12 mo. 1695 1st Samuel, 2 Daniel

That is the complete issue of this man by both wives as the register states it: three sons, and no daughters. The register does not qualify either list.

A SECOND, INDEPENDENT statement of the same three children (book p. 27 of the PDF)

The register restates it in a different register altogether — the enumeration of William Cooper of Pine Point's twenty grandchildren, keyed to his estate, each annotated with the marriage he "afterward" made. Read at 3x:

"32 XIX Samuel Cooper afterward married May – 33 XX Daniel Cooper afterward married Esther – being the three children of his son Daniel Cooper."

Two things come out of it. The three children of Daniel are restated independently of the chapter narrative at pp. 52-53 — and again there is no daughter. And Daniel the younger's wife is named Esther, the dash being the compiler's own mark for a surname he did not know. The table of contents carries the same pairing: "Daniel and Esther ( – ) Cooper — 33".

Related

Book p. 82 (not transcribed here) carries the land settlements that follow from this structure - William as heir at law conveying to "his half brother Samuel, by deed 1720" a plantation of 227 A. in Cooperstown, Waterford Township, and to "his half brother Daniel" a farm on the head waters of the N. Branch of Cooper's Creek by deed 1-28-1728. The half-brother relation is exactly what the two marriages above imply, and is what first made [G2D8-WV9] look credible.
