⚖️ a licence is not a marriage
The column lists licences issued, not weddings performed. ⇒ This dates the licence to on or shortly before 16 November 1924 and says nothing about the ceremony. It agrees with the one independent statement the catalog has: [J.396] records a 60th wedding anniversary in November, from April 1985, i.e. November 1924. Two sources sixty years apart, neither derived from the other, put the marriage in the same month.
🚫 the county is not on the page
The column gives no courthouse and no county, and its nine entries straddle two: Allentown and Emaus are Lehigh, while Nazareth, Easton, Bangor and Portland are Northampton (Bethlehem and Hellertown sit on the line). ⇒ Which register holds the licence is NOT a reading of this document. Portland is in Northampton Co. and that is where the docket should be sought first — but as a lead, recorded as one.
📌 what this page settles about ancestry coll 61324
Twice on 2026-10-19 Ancestry's 'Pennsylvania, U.S., County Marriage Records, 1845-1963' returned zero for a Northampton-county couple — Nellie* Cruver here, and Helen* Kerrigan of Lackawanna earlier the same morning (Arthur Robert Cooper). A bare surname search on Cruver then returned 49 rows for the whole state, and every marriage place among them is Allegheny, Adams (Gettysburg), Montgomery, Delford or Smithton — western and southern Pennsylvania. ⇒ The collection is a handful of counties, not the Commonwealth. Its zeros for Northampton and Lackawanna are coverage, and must never be written up as nulls about a person.
What this document does not say
No ages, no parents, no occupations, no exact addresses for this couple, no officiant, no date of the ceremony, no licence number, and no county.
