What this document records

✅✅ register control this wyandot register distinguishes mark from signature

CONTROL RUN 2026-09-27 — AND THIS OPENING CARRIES ITS OWN. The question: Israel Cooper and Samuel Cooper rest a two-Israels identity argument on the fact that the New Jersey Israel signs ([K.84], 23 Jan 1835) while the Ohio Israel marks ([K.105], 8 Jun 1835; here, 26 May 1847). Every one of those subscriptions is a register copy in a clerk's hand, so if a register normalised all grantors to marks, the marks would be worth nothing. It does not normalise. On the FACING deed of this same opening — Elijah W. Berry and Polly his wife to John Freet, 27 Nov 1849 — the subscriptions read Elijah W Berry (Seal), the name written out, and beneath it Polly + with mark written above, Berry (Seal). Crop-verified at 3×. ⇒ One opening, one clerk: a signature rendered as a name and a mark rendered as a mark — plus this deed's own Israel his X mark Cooper. The Wyandot register preserves the distinction. This is the third of three registers to pass the same control; see _ALL_THREE_REGISTERS_PASS at [K.105] for the set, and [K.87] for the Warren County, New Jersey leg.
