Hand-drawn Family Tree: "Benjamin in Daniel Cooper Family Tree 1695–1895"
Transcription and notes
- Source file: (image held in the family archive)
- Identification: Hand-drawn family tree in the shape of a branching limb/leaf. Benjamin Cooper appears at the bottom-right (the trunk end); branches unfold leftward through his children, grandchildren, and further descendants. The chart covers 1695–1895. Almost certainly a close-up of the same physical artwork catalogued at L.4: the title cartouche on L.4's wider scan reads "1695 – 1895. / Descendants of DANIEL COOPER and GRACE RUNYON of Long Hill, Morris County, New Jersey. / Collated by Arthur E. Cooper / Cooper's Plains / New York." That attribution should be treated as applying to L.1 as well. "Arthur E. Cooper" = p.353 Arthur Erwin Cooper (1848–1909) of Cooper's Plains NY (father of genealogist p.352 Theodore Arthur Cooper); very likely the catalog's "1895 family tree."
- Data from the chart — Benjamin Cooper (trunk):
- Name: "Benjamin Cooper".
- Born: "b. Dec. 1741".
- Died: "d. Dec. 1794".
- First wife: "m. Cherity Hoff" with parenthetical "(no issue)", "d. May 1763".
- Second wife: "2nd wife" — name space left blank / unlabeled on the chart.

- "Catherine Elizabeth C." — "b. 1783, d. Jan 3, 1872", "m. Amos Dayton".
- "Mary Cooper" — "b. 1780, d. Aug 1817", with two husbands noted: "m. Joseph Cross b. 1744, d. 1800" (year uncertain — could be 1805) and "m. John Annin b. 1764, d. 1824".
- "Theodosia Cooper" — "m. Jacob Wycoff".
- Data from the chart — Mary Cooper's children (via Joseph Cross):

- Data from the chart — Theodosia Cooper's children (via Jacob Wycoff):
- "Gertrude Wykoff" — "d. Jan 1885", "m. 1. W. Cornelius Seamon" / "m. 2. James Cross" (dates associated with this entry appear to include "b. 1813" and "b. 1814" but are hard to read).

- "Harriet Wykoff" — "m. Abram Van Horn".
- "Jane Ellen Wykoff" — "m. 1. Cornelius Clark" / "m. 2. Mott Cannon".
- "Amos D. Wykoff".
- "Melvina Wykoff" — "m. Edward Thomas".
- Plus a separate branch: "Cherity Cooper m. Jacob Haas" — this appears to connect to Theodosia's side of the tree but may represent a separate Cooper line. Placement on the chart is ambiguous.
- Data from the chart — Gertrude [Wykoff?] Cross's children branch:
- "Caroline S. Cross".
- "Martha H Cross" — "m. Wm. Cooper".
- "Mary L. Cross".
- "Clarissa Cross" — "b. Dec. 1816", "m. Francis Runyan".

- "Sarah Elizabeth H."
- "Ida Lane Haas" (or possibly "Ida Jane Haas" — script unclear).
- "Gilbert R. Haas".
- "Charity Cooper H."

- Data from the chart — John Haas's children:
- "Jacob Shutis Haas" — "m. Elizabeth Miller".

- "Elizabeth Haas" — "m. Dr. Sulphin".
[desc]Several additional branches are visible on the chart with faint or partially obscured labels that were not fully legible in the uploaded image. A higher-resolution scan or photograph would enable a complete transcription.- Provenance: Collated by Arthur E. Cooper of Cooper's Plains, New York (per the L.4 cartouche — this close-up of Benjamin's branch does not itself show the cartouche). Exact date of composition is not stated beyond the "1695–1895" title range; the chart was likely drawn around 1895 or shortly after.
