What this document records

The cooper data

In two consecutive terms of the Morris County court, 1788–89, the minutes name five Coopers: Charles (indicted for assault; bound to appear; a witness), Henry (plaintiff in debt, and Charles's security), Benjn and James (witnesses on opposite sides of Henry's suit), and George (a juror in it). The Dickersons (John, Joseph) appear as witnesses on both sides of the same suit.

What this document does not say

No residence, township or age is given for any Cooper, and no relationship is stated. A security on a recognizance is commonly kin or a close neighbour, but the minutes do not say which.
