What this document records
The aaron null
NO AARON COOPER — the null this entry exists for. Aaron Cooper Sr Aaron Cooper Sr (1786–1851) of Warren Co. has no Secretary of State probate index entry, and neither does Aaron Cooper Jr Aaron Jr. ⇒ a pending state-level probate request for him would have come back empty. And that null was right: his administration is a county record — [A.92], the 1859 Letters of Administration from the Warren Surrogate, indexed in [A.40], not in Aitkin. The lesson generalises: a Secretary-of-State index null does not mean no probate, it means the papers stayed at county level.
Only five
FIVE COOPERS IN WARREN AGAINST FIFTY-FOUR IN MORRIS ([A.33]). That is a tenfold difference for adjacent counties, and it is almost certainly about record-keeping, not about Coopers — Warren was set off from Sussex only in 1824, and its earlier probate sits under Sussex. Recorded as an observation about the source, not a demographic finding.

Provenance, the OCR caveat, the Aaron null and why Warren has so few entries are in the
