What this document records
What it says
A Joseph married a Stackhouse in Sussex County in April 1822 — and the groom is BELL. The return is in the hand of James Dewitt, Esq., Justice, the same justice who married Samuel Cooper to Sarah Balden in the [C.84] block on page 233 of the same opening.
What it does not say
There is no Joseph Cooper marriage in this return, and none on this opening beyond [C.84]'s Samuel. Nothing connects Bell or Stackhouse to any Cooper — the two entries simply share an officiant and a page. No ages, parents, residences or witnesses — this register gives date, names and the officiant, nothing more. NJ's parent-naming marriage returns begin in 1848.
