Why it matters

  1. Primary-source-locks [p.666] Cooper Ludlow's FIRST marriage — to Elizabeth Reeder, 8 Oct 1804, Warren Co., OH. CORRECTS the catalog's "m.1 (1801)" (which came from L.4/[J.173], not a record). The Reeder family had removed to the Mad River country ~1804 (per [p.666]/[J.173]); this marriage is in Warren Co. that same year.
  2. Fixes the child-chronology: the Reeder children (Mary Ann 1807, Stephen Decatur [p.1520] 1809, John [p.1650] 1810, Jacob 1812) all follow the 1804 marriage cleanly. Elizabeth Reeder died before Cooper's 2nd marriage ([C.72], 14 Dec 1813) — so by Dec 1813, refining the catalog's "d. 1815."
  3. ↔ Does not name the children — it is the parents' marriage. But it firms the Reeder-marriage window under which Stephen Decatur (b.1809) was born.
