Two Della Coopers marrying in New Jersey nine months apart, indexed in the same collection. The Lambertville one is not [p.1805]: our Della married Newman in September 1895, so she was not free to marry Parker in June 1896. Hunterdon County is also the wrong end of the state. Recorded here so the Parker record is never attached to her.
And a third, in a newspaper. The Times-Tribune (Scranton PA), Wed 10 May 1899, p. 2, "PERSONALS": "Miss Della Cooper and Miss Mary Cadwalader, of Luzerne street, have returned after a few days' visit with the former's cousin, Mrs. William Sutton, of North Rebecca avenue." "Miss" — unmarried in 1899, where ours had been Mrs. Newman since 1895. Tempting because [L.156] does place our Della in Scranton by 1910 — but the courtesy title rules her out in 1899. Not hers.
What it settles — the "Mrs. Frank Howell" question
[J.215], Grant Cooper's 1953 obituary, named two surviving sisters: "Mrs. Judson Sickle" and "Mrs. Frank Howell, of Newton". [C.87] fixed the first as Cora [p.1800], and [C.87] and todo.md both warned in terms that the elimination to Sadie did not follow, because a third daughter — Della — vanished after 1880 and could be Mrs. Howell.
She is. [L.156], the klSmith tree (id 158321717), gives Della A. Cooper (1877–1965), daughter of Andrew Jackson Cooper × Angeline Sarah Kishpaugh, with two husbands: William Carl Newman (1873–1931) and ** Frank W. Howell Sr (1868–1960)**.
And the same tree closes it from the other side: it gives Sadie B. Cooper as 1875–1913 — so Sadie was dead forty years before the 1953 obituary and cannot be one of its two surviving sisters. The two survivors are Della (d. 1965) and Cora (d. 1962).
Tree-tier. [L.156] is an Ancestry tree, not a record; the Howell marriage itself has no citation read here. What this entry establishes on record evidence is only the Newman marriage.
