What this document records

The three entries verbatim

Image 49 (1815): "John — Born Feb 24. 1815 / Baptized June 4. 1815 — Jacob Haas / Charity Cooper". Image 52 (1817), ruled table: "Sept 28th — Jacob I. Schultz Born July 28th 1817 — Jacob Haas / Charity Cooper". Image 55 (1820), ruled table: "Baptized June 18 1820 — Lydia Rue, Born March 26th 1820 — Jacob Haas / Charity Cooper".

🎯 what these settle

The children of Charity (Cooper) Haas Charity (Cooper) Haas — Benjamin Cooper's daughter — have until now been [L.4]-tree-only except for the marriage itself. These are contemporaneous records, and they give exact birth dates: John J Haas John J. Haas b. 24 Feb 1815 (the catalog had "1815"), Jacob Shultz Haas Jacob Shultz Haas b. 28 July 1817 (the catalog had "1817"), and a sixth child the catalog did not have — Lydia Rue Haas, b. 26 March 1820.

⚠️ the second lydia rue

John J Haas John J. Haas has a daughter Lydia Rue Haas (1837–1920). The Lydia Rue baptised here is fourteen years older and is John's sister, not that daughter. Two women of the name in consecutive generations; the 1837 one is not affected by this entry.

⚠️ the name form jacob i schultz

The 1817 child is entered as "Jacob I. Schultz" — the given names only, the surname being the father's. The catalog writes him Jacob Shultz Haas (Jacob Shultz Haas).

⛔ and the null that matters just as much

The register carries NO baptism of any child of Benjamin Cooper and Anna (Brown) Cooper, and no Cooper at all before 1815. Every opening from image 24 (1775) to image 56 (1822) was read on 2026-09-17 — thirty-two openings — and the only Cooper in the whole run is Charity Cooper as a baptised child's mother, three times. The congregation's families are German and Dutch (Ebcher, Hoffman, Apgar, Wyckoff, Eick, Kramer, Lunenburger, Sharp, Aller, Low, Van Sickle …). ⇒ The 2c aim of the trip — Theodosia (1775), Mary/Polly (1780), Robert (~1783), Joseph (~1785), John (~1786) and Charity (1789), baptised here — is a clean null. Benjamin's family did not baptise at Lebanon; his daughter appears only after marrying into a congregation family.

📌 provenance of the register

Image 32 carries a later hand: "About this time (1784, 1783) Revᵈ Caspar Wack must have settled. And that part of the records immediately preceding is by the hand of Revᵈ Frederick Dellikers", and "From April 1, 1782 (2 pages above) Caspar Wack's records begin — J.F.C." Image 51 records that Jacob J. Schultz accepted a call from the united congregations of Rockaway and Lebanon, 29 Sept 1815, ordained 26 Nov 1816 — after which the register becomes the ruled table.

Transcription and notes

Three children of Jacob Haas and Charity Cooper — Benjamin Cooper's daughter — with exact birth dates, and a sixth child new to the catalog (Lydia Rue, b. 26 Mar 1820).

The rest of the register, 1775–1822, thirty-two openings, carries no other Cooper — so the baptisms of Benjamin's own children are not here. Both results are in coverage:.
