Reads

The register opening carries baptisms for 1691, 1692, 1693 and 1694 under the heading "Baptized". The 1694 section's third entry is "24 Anne, daughter of John ------- Cooper", the long dash standing where the mother's name would be, so NO MOTHER IS NAMED. This is the record indexed at ark 1:1:JSP2-FXQ, from which FamilySearch auto-created BOTH [LZLH-7M1] (attached to Anne (Cooper) Van Court Anne Cooper Van Court) and [273H-F7C] "John Moses Cooper" on 6 November 2014 - see Anne (Cooper) Van Court and Anne Cooper for what that does and does not establish. The same opening records "July 15 [1691] Thomas the son of Thomas . . . Cooper", a separate Codicote Cooper household.

Transcription and notes

Data from the document [verbatim]

Heading of the column: "Baptized". Year rules divide the page; the 1694 block reads:

1694 Apr. 21 Thomas, son of Richard Willins of Whitamsted in Hertfs Tinker Jun: 1 John, son of John & Anne Gives 24 Anne, daughter of John ------- Cooper July 17 Samuel, son of John & Susan Humberstone Sept. 3 Mary daughter of Joseph & Mary Austin / Mary daughter of William Austin Oct. 16 Thomas, son of Richard & Frances Ford 23 Mary daughter of Thomas & Mary Golds Dec. 12 Katharine, daughter of George Beaumont jun[r] 8 Sarah daughter of John & Anne Bur Feb. 2 John of Richard & Mary Michel

The "24" carries no month of its own and sits under Jun: 1, so the date is 24 June 1694, as the index also gives it.

The dash is part of the record. Every neighbouring entry names both parents ("John & Anne Gives", "John & Susan Humberstone", "Richard & Frances Ford"). This one writes "John ------- Cooper", i.e. the clerk left the mother's name blank. The index reflects this faithfully: it carries a Father's Name and no mother.
