Perrin (ed.), History of Fayette County, Kentucky (1882), 'Personal Histories' — the JOHN H. COOPER [p.668] biography: his parents were 'Joseph Cooper and Elizabeth Houghten'; the family 'trace their ancestry to one Daniel Cooper, who came to America from Holland about two hundred years ago,' arriving in Kentucky ~1800 as 'Joseph Cooper and his two brothers, William and Daniel, who settled on the Iron Works road.' = an INDEPENDENT KENTUCKY attestation of the Holland / Daniel-Cooper-Sr origin tradition ([pr.2]).

Why it matters (interpretation)

  1. Locks [p.668] John H. Cooper's parentage on Joseph Cooper [p.669] × Elizabeth Houghton — a family-informant statement matching the [A.116] guardianship (John a ward of Joseph's estate) + [C.63] (Joseph × Elizabeth Houghton 1808) + [D.485] (1850 census).
  2. Independent KY attestation of the Holland / Daniel-Cooper origin tradition — "trace their ancestry to one Daniel Cooper, who came to America from Holland about two hundred years ago." This is the [p.1] Daniel Cooper Sr "from Holland" tradition ([I.36] House of Cooper; [I.4] Littell "emigrated from Holland 1695"), here restated ~1882 by the Kentucky branch — a family two states and 80+ years removed carrying the same origin story. Tradition-tier (not a record of Daniel Sr's actual birth), but its independence gives the "Holland" tradition breadth it lacked; relevant to [pr.2].
  3. Confirms the migration structure: Joseph [p.669] went to KY ~1800 with brothers William [p.733?] and Daniel [p.737?] — the sons of Daniel Cooper Jr [p.79] who removed to Kentucky. Matches the catalog's Daniel-Jr → KY reconstruction. ("about two hundred years ago" from 1882 = ~1682, loose; the real Daniel Sr b.1695 — traditions telescope.)
  4. John H's children Samuel [p.907] + Jennie [p.905] + John H. living 1882 — corroborates the [G.232]/L.4 child-list.
