Catalog significance

Backbone of the 2026-06-08 resolution of the p.113 John Cooper of Independence household — the parents (John×Anna) + siblings (Samuel + Levi = p.113's D.4-1850 sons) confirm p.621 Roderick Byanton Cooper = the "R. Byington" son, and document the John-of-Independence Y-line continuing through Roderick's sons. Tree-tier; the underlying census + probate + draft records (some now on disk) are the corroborating evidence.

2026-09-18 — where this tree's James S. Cooper parentage comes from (maintainer)

Ancestry's Saved Family Trees comparison for James S. Cooper (captured by the maintainer, 2026-09-18) sets this tree beside the Perry Family Tree (owner Amber Perry, [L.166] tree 88812818):

Perry Grimm (this tree)
James S. b. 10 Sep 1827, Sussex, NJ · d. 29 Jun 1896 Essex, Kankakee Co. the same
father John D Cooper (1785–1857) John D Cooper (1790–1849)
mother (blank) Anna Antrim (1800–1860)
sources 1 1 — "Ancestry Family Trees"

⇒ This tree's James S. has one source, another member tree, and that tree does not match it: Perry gives different dates for John D. and no mother, and its child list is polluted (Addie Blanch twice, Carrie Alice and Carrie both 1864/66–1929, plus Michael, Anna, William, John, May, Elmer, who belong to other families). The Anna Antrim mother and the link to the Independence family are this compiler's own addition, apparently a slip. No outreach — maintainer's decision, 2026-09-18: "not worth messaging her, she just mistyped something." ⇒ [L.132] carries no evidential weight on James S.'s parentage.
