The wildcard was the point: this family is indexed Hissem, Hissam, Hissiam, Hissom and Hissim across five records, so an exact surname would have returned a fraction of them.Result: FOUND (INDEX TIER - THE IMAGE HAS NOT BEEN DOWNLOADED AND NO ENTRY HAS BEEN MADE). "James Hissiam", 36, Self (Head), Laborer, 3 months not employed, Pahaquarry Twp, Warren Co., dwelling 149, ED 197, page 394c. Married, with wife "Sarah Hissiam", 35, and FIVE CHILDREN: Harvey 10, William H. 8, Anna M. 5, George F. 2, Lavina 1/12. THIS IS A FIRST FAMILY THE CATALOG DID NOT KNOW HE HAD. He married Mary L. (Cooper) Hissem Mary L. Cooper on 28 Aug 1890 aged 46 [N.67]; this sheet shows why that was a remarriage. Sarah must have died between June 1880 and August 1890. AND IT MAY EXPLAIN THE INFORMANT ON HIS SECOND WIFE'S DEATH CERTIFICATE. [F.365] names the 1916 informant as "A. HISSIM of Wilmington, Del." - and Mary L. (Cooper) Hissem had one child, not in her 1900 household [D.793]. "Anna M. Hissiam", born about 1875, is his daughter by Sarah and would have been Mary L.'s STEPDAUGHTER. Not asserted - it is an initial and a surname - but it is the first candidate the catalog has had for that informant. ONE CONFLICT, RECORDED NOT RESOLVED: this sheet gives his birthplace and BOTH parents' birthplaces as PENNSYLVANIA. This file carries New Jersey, from the 1900 census [D.793]. THE IDENTIFICATION IS ANCESTRY'S OWN RECORD SET, AND IT IS UNUSUALLY CLEAN: the panel on this row links "James K Hisam" (1910), "James K Hissim" (Pennsylvania death certificate), "James K. Hissam" (NJ marriage records), "James K Hissim" (1905 NJ state census) and "Jas K. P. Hissin" (1865 NJ state census). The middle initial K runs through all of them. Per the standing rule those links carry no confidence by themselves; they are recorded as what makes this row worth opening, and the age (36 in 1880 = b. about 1844, matching his Feb 1844) is the independent part.
