?name=Ira+Dean_Evans&birth=1929_missouri-usa&birth_x=1-0-0&count=50; 8,155 ranked, page 1 read, which is where every row naming him sorts.Result: HE IS IDENTIFIED, DATED, AND TIED TO HER BY A RECORD. b. 2 Oct 1928, Hamilton, Caldwell Co., Missouri (Missouri Birth Registers; the 1950 schedule's "21" was a year out) · d. 5 Aug 2010, Kansas City (SSDI, VA BIRLS, Find a Grave) · m. 10 Apr 1951, Bentonville, Benton Co., ARKANSAS, of Kansas City (Arkansas county marriages) · a veteran · in Kansas City in 1991 (Public Records Index). THE TIE TO HER IS A RECORD, NOT A TREE: both of his draft cards name her. The WWII card (1946, Kansas City) gives Relative: Evelyn Cooper; the Korean War card gives Relative: **Evelyn Cucker, a plain mis-reading of the same name. ⇒ He is her son and she was a Cooper by 1946, which also bounds her marriage to Ernest F Cooper Ernest. AND A TREE-TIER LEAD THAT IS THE WHOLE POINT, recorded as a lead ONLY: an Ancestry tree gives his father as IRA FLOYD EVANS and his mother as EVELYN MAE GRAHAM. ⇒ Her maiden name is probably GRAHAM and her first husband probably Ira Floyd Evans. NEITHER is written into this file's header, because a tree is not evidence. CORRECTION, THE SAME DAY - THE BIRTH REGISTER IS A DEAD END, AND I RECOMMENDED IT BEFORE OPENING IT. The row was opened an hour later (coll. 1170 rec. 13312154) and carries only Name, Birth Date and "Missouri, USA" - no parents, no county, no image. The collection's own description says why: "Records from 1920 and after don't include images of original documents." ⇒ For a 1928 birth this set is an index of names and dates and nothing more. Written down so nobody repeats it on my say-so. AND THEN BOTH REPLACEMENT ROUTES WERE TRIED TOO, THE SAME HOUR. ALL THREE INDEXES NAME NO PARENTS; ONLY ONE OF THEM HAS AN IMAGE. (1) "Missouri, U.S., Death Records, 1968-2015" (coll. 62145 rec. 2276894) - opened: Name, Death Date 5 Aug 2010, "Missouri, USA". Nothing else, no image. It is a state INDEX, not the certificates. (2) "Arkansas, Marriage Certificates, 1917-1972" (coll. 61775 rec. 1129350) - opened: "Ira D. Evans, white, marriage age 22, b. abt 1929, married 10 Apr 1951 at Bentonville, Benton Co., spouse SUE TORPEY, certificate number 2403" (Arkansas Dept. of Vital Records, Year 1951, Film #1). The spouse name matches the tree's "Sue Torpey" exactly, which is a second, independent confirmation that the tree is describing this man. ITS INDEXED FIELDS NAME NO PARENTS EITHER - BUT IT CARRIES A "View" LINK, i.e. AN IMAGE, and it is the only one of the three that does. ⇒ THAT IMAGE IS THE LAST CHEAP ROUTE to her maiden name through her son; certificate 2403 of 1951 is the thing to pull. THE PATTERN WORTH REMEMBERING: three different state vital collections, three different states' worth of hope, and all three are name-and-date INDEXES. For 20th-century vitals, check whether the row has an image BEFORE recommending it as the record that will name parents - the mistake I made at the top of this row. Nothing here is a substitute for the 1943 marriage return (certificate 1943A0097287), which remains the one document that would give her maiden name in her OWN record.
