Searched for: THREE SEARCHES FOR THIS FAMILY IN PHILLIPS COUNTY, KANSAS, prompted by [G.696]/[G.698] giving both his daughters' birthplace as GLADE, PHILLIPS CO. - a county this file's route does not contain. (a) surname Cooper, residence "Phillips, Kansas", residence date 1885-1885; (b) given Josiah, surname Mitchel~ (fuzzy), residence "Phillips, Kansas", 1895; (c) given Sadie, surname Cooper, residence "Phillips, Kansas", birth 1884-1886. An Ancestry search of collection 1088 (Kansas State Census Collection) was attempted first and ABANDONED: neither the residence nor the census-year parameter bound through the URL (11,668 results spanning 1885-1915), and the collection's own form was not submitted successfully.
Result: NO COOPER OF THIS FAMILY FOUND IN PHILLIPS COUNTY in any of the three. (a) returned only JASPER COOPER (b. Missouri) and A KOPPERS (b. Holland) as Phillips Co. 1885 entries on page 1. (b) returned Josiah in the 1925 Kansas census at Phillips Co. with "Children Maggie Beck", plus his headstone application and Find a Grave index - but NO 1895 household. (c) returned no Sadie Cooper in Phillips Co. at all. THESE ARE WEAK NULLS AND ARE RECORDED AS SUCH. FamilySearch's residence parameter RANKS rather than FILTERS - search (a) reported 257,620 total results - so "no Phillips entry on page 1" is not an enumeration of Phillips County. The index was searched; the images were not. AND (c)'s null IS WHAT THE RECONSTRUCTION PREDICTS, which is worth saying so it is not mistaken for counter-evidence: by 1895 Emeline had been married to Josiah Mitchell for a year ([G.697]), so her daughters were in HIS household and would have been enumerated under his name. That is exactly why the catalog could never find them - and why Olive E. (Cooper) Northup Olive is filed on Find a Grave as a MITCHELL to this day. NOTE A ONE-DAY CONFLICT picked up in (b): Josiah's obituary says he died "February 12th, 1928" while the headstone application and the Find a Grave index both say 13 FEBRUARY 1928. Not this catalog's question, but recorded where it was seen. NO ANCESTRY RECORD PAGE WAS OPENED in any of the three, so no Suggested-records panel arises here; that sweep belongs to an
ancestry-all row and this is not one.Documents

- F.243 Warren Co., NJ — Return of Births, book AJ: ALVAN COOPER and ALPHEUS COOPER, read at the FamilySearch Center 2026-08-20. Page 144 (image 148): "Return of Births in the Township of HACKETTSTOWN, County of Warren … from the first day of May 1853 to the first day of May 1854" — Alvan, male, b. 25 Sep 1853, son of G. G. & C. Cooper, father a Carpenter. Image 287 = book page 272: Alpheus, male, b. 11 July, Great Meadows, parents "E_ & C. Cooper". The plan's index rows are confirmed on page, day-and-month and the father's initial, and corrected on the given name — "Alvin" is ALVAN. The register writes NO YEAR on either row — the year is carried by the return period, and page 272's is May 1858 – May 1859, which does not sit with the index's 1856. UPGRADED THE SAME DAY — three more of the plan's target pages turn out to have been captured after all. Page 107 and page 166 each carry an unnamed male child of ISRAEL COOPER, farmer of Frelinghuysen (30 Jan 1853 and 11 Oct 1854); page 156 carries ELIZABETH COOPER, b. 5 Dec 1853 at Scotts Mountain, daughter of CASPER & CATHARINE COOPER, father a MINER. The index's year for Elizabeth — 1854 — is WRONG; the register says 1853, and the return period independently rules 1854 out.
