Result: THE CALIFORNIA DEATH INDEX GIVES HER MOTHER'S MAIDEN NAME AS "ELLIOTT" - a STATE record, from the Department of Health Services, naming her mother an Elliott independently of every Find a Grave contributor this reconstruction has leaned on. It is the first non-contributor source for the link to Emeline (Elliott) Cooper. IT DOES NOT NAME HER FATHER. The collection's own description says father's last name is among the fields carried, but this record's detail panel shows only the mother's maiden name - so the field is absent for her, not withheld. The Cooper link therefore stays
probable. IT ALSO DATES HER TWICE, AND BOTH DISAGREE WITH HER MEMORIAL BY EXACTLY ONE MONTH - see the body. The SSA index gave a FOURTH child, Velma Nay Tamme. (link)Result: FOUND -> memorial 42479024, parsed as [G.696]. Her mother, husband, three children and three Mitchell half-siblings all came off the panel, and the panel's parent link led straight to [G.697], which corroborates her father's first marriage from a 1928 newspaper. THE SURNAME IS WHY THIS WORKED. "Nay" is rare; a parallel search for her nephew-by-marriage "James Cooper" of Hays, Kansas the same morning returned nothing usable from Google.
