Children 1. son baptized Jan 29, 1757/8 at 1st Reformed Church Raritan Somerville Somerset Co. NJ (cites Somerset Co. Hist. Quarterly II:300); 2. baptized Jan 5, 1763 [name not legible]; 3. blank; 4. blank
Comments "Source of this information was not given, but stated as fact in book of Ingham Coryell" v187.5 update: the "book of Ingham Coryell" = now primary-source-located on disk + catalogued at I.48 — Ingham Coryell, Emanuel Coryell of Lambertville, New Jersey and his Descendants (1943, Philadelphia). Santos's Page 6 Abraham × Catryntje data derives directly from this Ingham Coryell book.

Discrepancy with F.67 §2: F.67's Gangaware-typescript Raritan DRC sweep records "1737/8 Jan 29 Koriel, Abraham & Catreyntye → Abraham" — i.e., 1737/8 not 1757/8. 20-year discrepancy. Possible reconciliations: - Two different children of same couple, 20 years apart (= long childbearing window) - Father-son same-name pattern: Abraham Sr × Catryntye 1737/8 + Abraham Jr × Catryntje 1757/8 - One source has a year-transcription error (need to verify against original Raritan DRC ms via FHL Film 16584 per FHL registry)

§4 — Page 66: Elias Coryell of Long Hill (= the will-executor of Daniel Sr's 1791 will?)

Field Value
Head of family Elias Coryell (Generation III per Santos)
Parents (Santos primary read) son of David Coryell + Elsie (Slecht)
Parents (alternative read per "The Runyon Gen.") son of Abraham Coryell + Catharine Van Court
Birth 6/22/1741 (per Philomene Jenkins, Mrs. C. H., of Lincoln Nebraska 1930 letter)
Death 1814
Residence "Settled on Long Hill on Lot of Berkeley Tract adjoining Solomon Boyle's tract"
Spouse Sarah Runyon (b. 1745; dau. of Richard Runyon × Jane Van Court — Jane Van Court = Anne Cooper Van Court's daughter Jane per project pr.8 Anne Cooper Van Court sister (RESOLVED).md)
Burial not stated

** KEY: "Settled on Long Hill on Lot of Berkeley Tract adjoining Solomon Boyle's tract" places Elias Coryell on the SAME Berkeley Tract where Daniel Cooper Sr "bought lot No. 2 of the Berkeley tract, containing 500 acres" per I.4 Littell p. 90. Daniel Cooper Sr and Elias Coryell were Long Hill / Berkeley Tract neighbors.**

This Elias Coryell (b. 1741, d. 1814) is the strongest candidate for Elias Coriell of Morris County named as executor of Daniel Sr's 1791 will per A.8. Cross-corroborated by J.104 1793 newspaper notice.

§5 — Page 158: Nathan Coryell (Civil War colonel)

Not directly relevant to Daniel Sr era; descendant generation. Catalogued for completeness as part of the 6-page on-disk Santos sweep.

§6 — Page 170: Samuel Coriell + will (Generation II) — 1750 per Santos / 1760 per Honeyman v187

Field Value
Head of family Samuel Coriell (II Generation per Santos page header)
Parents son of Abraham [Sr] and ( ) Coriell (= sibling of Page 6 Abraham Jr if reading Page 6 as the brother of Samuel; ambiguous)
Birth annotation: "b. abt 1700 prob in NJ"
Death annotation: "d. after Jan 1760" — but the will-date below contradicts (1750 not 1760); typo in margin annotation
Residence "Bridgewater, NJ (?)" with margin note "Can find no such town; cf Bridgewater N J is now Robur, NJ - cor Gen Map of NJ Sept 1941, p. 116" — so Bridgewater NJ → Robur NJ
Spouse (blank in Santos; speculated to be a Van Court — see Note below)
Children 1. Michael b. 1758; 2. Joseph b. 1755 d. 1814 Orangeburg KY; 3. John b. ; 4. Daniel b. ; "doubtless were near Sam, where Abraham + Cati (Van Court) were near"

** PRIMARY-SOURCE LANGUAGE in Samuel's will (per Santos Note):**

Samuel Coryell's will was dated 1/15/1750: mentioned minor children, and leaves them to the guardianship of his brother David and his cousin Elias Van Court. Samuel's wife may have been a Van Court and Elias a brother in law of Sam.

Will-body language: "his brother David" (= David Coryell, sibling of Samuel) + "his cousin Elias Van Court".

v187 2026-05-05 DATE CORRECTION: Honeyman Calendar of NJ Wills Vol. XXXII p. 72 abstract dates Samuel's will 17 Jan 1760, proved 25 Feb 1760 (Lib. G p. 128) — see A.19. Santos's "1/15/1750" is most parsimoniously a transcription error (1750 misread for 1760). This changes the identity of "cousin Elias Van Court": the 1750 reading would place Elias Van Court Sr (1689-1750) as cousin (he died Aug 1750, plausible if will-writing was Jan 1750), but the corrected 1760 reading must mean Elias Van Court Jr (Anne Cooper Van Court's son baptized at Raritan DRC 26 Jul 1719 per F.67; age ~41 in 1760). Per page-author annotation "Samuel's wife may have been a Van Court and Elias a brother in law of Sam" — under the 1760 reading, Samuel's wife would be a Van Court daughter of Anne + Elias Sr (= sister of Elias Jr).

Catalog implication: The will-body kinship language "his cousin Elias Van Court" is primary-source attestation of a Coriell-Van Court family-by-marriage tie. Combined with A.16 Elias Van Court Sr's own 1750 will language "my brother in Law Daniel Cooper" + A.18 Emanuel Coryell's 1745 will naming Daniel Cooper as Overseer — three published abstracts span 1745-1760 with primary-source familial-kinship terms across the Cooper / Coryell / Van Court surname-cluster, consistent with 18th-c. NJ usage of "brother" and "cousin" for relatives-by-marriage and not strictly biological siblings.

Catalog implications

Generation reconciliation across Santos pages

Per Santos's page-headers ("II Generation" Page 170, "III Generation" Page 66) and the implied genealogy:

Generation Person Notes
Gen 1 (1663 immigrants per M.23) Elias + Emanuel + David Coriell + perhaps Abraham Corsican French Huguenots
Gen 2 (b. ~1690-1710) Abraham Coryell Sr (Page 6 Abraham's father; Page 170 Samuel's father); Samuel Coriell (b. ~1700 NJ, d. 1750); David Coryell (= Samuel's brother per 1750 will); Emanuel Coryell of Lambertville ferry-operator 1733 per M.23 (= a Gen 2 or possibly Gen 3 Emanuel)
Gen 3 (b. ~1720-1750) Abraham Coryell Jr (m. Catryntje Van Court, son b. 1737/8 OR 1757/8 per discrepancy); David Coryell Jr (m. Elsie Van Court / Slecht; 8 children 1755-1796); Elias Coryell of Long Hill (b. 1741 d. 1814; m. Sarah Runyon = Anne Cooper Van Court's granddaughter)
Gen 4 David A. Coryell (Page 53; m. Charity); various Coryell descendants

Working hypothesis: the Coriell brothers (Samuel + David + Abraham Jr) of Gen 2-3 lived in Bridgewater/Somerville/Piscataway/Raritan area in NJ, while Emanuel Coryell migrated to Lambertville (Hunterdon Co.) c. 1733 to operate the ferry. Multiple Coryell men in this cluster married Van Court women, creating a dense Coriell-Van Court intermarriage pattern.

The "brother Immanuel" question revisited

Per project pr.2 Daniel Sr father search.md v186.5 user direction: an actual "Immanuel Cooper" Cooper-male brother of Daniel Sr is unlikely; brother-in-law via marriage to a Cooper sister is more likely.

The Santos pages don't directly resolve which Coriell married a Cooper sister. No Santos page documents an Emanuel Coryell × Cooper-surname-wife marriage. Emanuel m. Sarah Tunison per L.31. His siblings Samuel m. ?Van Court, David m. Elsie Van Court, Abraham Jr m. Catryntje Van Court — three Van Court daughters-in-law, no Cooper.

Possible interpretations of "brother Immanuel": - (a) A different Cooper-Coriell connection at the GRANDPARENT level (Daniel Sr's mother was a Coriell? = Theory 4 widow-remarriage) - (b) Emanuel Coryell was a brother-in-law via Daniel Sr's wife Grace Runyon — would require Emanuel to have married a Runyon sister of Grace's. Per Santos Page 66, Elias Coryell (Gen 3) married Sarah Runyon (Anne Cooper Van Court's granddaughter). Could a Gen 2 Coryell-Runyon marriage have established the Cooper-Coriell brotherhood-by-marriage tie? - (c) The "brother" relationship is loose 18th-c. usage applied to the brother-in-law of Daniel Sr's sister Anne Cooper Van Court — i.e., Anne's husband Elias Van Court Sr called his Coriell-married brothers-in-law (Samuel + David + Abraham Jr) "brothers" to himself, and Daniel Sr (Anne's brother) extended the brotherhood term to include them via the family network. = Daniel Sr's 'brother Immanuel' = Elias Van Court's brother-in-law Emanuel Coryell (= via the Van Court intermarriage cluster).

Reading (c) is the most parsimonious given the Santos data. The "brother" in House of Cooper p. 11 family tradition is then a 2-removes-by-marriage relationship: Daniel Sr → sister Anne → Anne's husband Elias Van Court → Elias's "cousin" / brother-in-law Emanuel Coryell.
