What this document records

Summary

full Cooper / Kuyper / Cuyper / Klaesen sweep of Hackensack DRC register 1686-1799. THIRD-AND-FINAL PRIMARY-SOURCE-DECISIVE NEGATIVE for the I.49 Bergen-NJ Cooper-line working hypothesis (after M.1 Bergen NULL + F.70 Tappan NULL): ZERO baptisms of any Daniel Cooper / Daniel Kuyper / Daniel Cuyper anywhere in the Hackensack DRC register 1686-1799. Plus zero baptisms of any Daniel-name baby to ANY Cooper-Klaessen-Kuyper parent. Hackensack DRC 1700-1716 has only ONE Cooper-line baptism: Hillegondt b. 21 Nov 1709 to Isack Van Gisse × Hillegond Clase Kuyper (= Hellegond Cooper, daughter of Claes Jansen Van Permerend) — witnessed by Cornelis Clase Kuyper (her brother) + Annetie Cornelisse (= Ann Van Vorst, the matriarch widow, alive 1709). PRIMARY-SOURCE confirmation of Jan Klaessen Kuyper × Tryntje Stratemakers's daughters Geesje and Rachel at Hackensack 1718: Geesie Janse Kuiper (b. Hasemes = Ahasimus Bergen NJ Cooper-tract) m. Harme Jacobse Roos (y.m. b. Amsterdam) — registered 1718; their son Johannes baptized 31 Aug 1718, witnessed by sister Rachel Janse Kuyper. Jan Klaessen Kuyper × Tryntje Stratemakers had NO baptismal-attested SONS at Hackensack = Hackensack adds no new Cooper-line male children to the Bergen+Tappan 6-child roster. Plus L.13s primary-source-locked: 28 Sept 1706 marriage Jacob Eerte y.m. b. Bowery NY × Trintie Stratemakers w. of Jan Klase Kuyper. = Combined with M.1 + F.70, three-DRC primary-source consilience FALSIFIES Daniel Sr ← Jan Klaessen Kuyper specific candidate chain at primary-source level.

Transcription and notes

Prior partial cataloging L.13s cataloged a single page (p. 30 marriage 1705-1707) of this 1891 publication from Sisser correspondence as 'ref 19' — this F.71 entry is the first full-source review

Three-DRC primary-source consilience: Jan Klaessen Kuyper × Tryntje Stratemakers had NO Daniel

Combining M.1 + F.70 + this F.71 entry, the complete attested child roster of Jan Klaessen Kuyper × Tryntje Stratemakers across the three major Bergen-NJ Reformed Dutch congregations is:

# Date bp. Child Source register Source entry
1 14 May 1695 (b. 26 Mar 1695) Geesje Bergen DRC M.1 entry 278
2 ~Nov 1696 Claes Bergen DRC M.1 entry 308
3 ~June 1698 Annetje Bergen DRC M.1 entry 326
4 3 July 1700 Raechgel/Rachel Tappan DRC F.70 entry 41
5 13 Feb 1703 Claes (likely re-naming after Claes 1696 died) Tappan DRC F.70 entry 71
6 b. 5 Mar 1704, bp. 10 Apr 1705 Tryntye Tappan DRC F.70 entry 91

Hackensack DRC 1686-1799 adds NO additional baptisms for this couple. Both surviving daughters confirmed at Hackensack 1718: - Geesje (b. Hasemes/Ahasimus) m. Harme Jacobse Roos at Hackensack 1718; baptizing son Johannes 31 Aug 1718 - Rachel as witness at sister's son's baptism Aug 1718 (still y.d. = unmarried, age 18)

NO DANIEL anywhere in the 6-child roster. Per L.13s, Jan Klaessen Kuyper d. before 28 Sept 1706 (Trintie remarried Jacob Eerte that date at Hackensack). Therefore no further children possible after entry 6 (Tryntye Mar 1704 / Apr 1705).

DECISIVE PRIMARY-SOURCE NEGATIVE: The I.49 working-hypothesis specific candidate chain Daniel Cooper Sr 1695-1795 ← John Cooper (= Jan Klaessen Kuyper) ← Claes Jansen Van Permerend is FALSIFIED at primary-source level via three-DRC consilience. The candidate couple Jan + Tryntje did NOT have a son named Daniel.

Generation-3 Cooper-family baptisms 1730s-1770s (later sweeps)

Multiple Generation-3 Cooper-line baptisms appear at Hackensack DRC 1730s-1770s — Dirk Kuyper × ??? baptizing Cornelis (line 8824); Cornelis Kuyper baptizing children (line 9274); Teunis Cuyper baptizing Abraham (line 9480); Hendrick Kuyper baptizing Albert (line 14454); etc. None named Daniel. These are likely descendants of Cornelius (eldest son of Claes Jansen) and other Generation-2 Cooper sons; full cataloging not pursued in this F.71 sweep as they post-date the Daniel-Sr-1695 question.

DECISIVE: Daniel Cooper Sr 1695-1795 was NOT baptized at Hackensack DRC. Combined with M.1 Bergen DRC NULL + F.70 Tappan + Clarkstown DRC NULL, this completes the THREE-DRC PRIMARY-SOURCE-CONSILIENCE-NEGATIVE for the I.49 working hypothesis chain Daniel Sr ← Jan Klaessen Kuyper ← Claes Jansen Van Permerend.

Implications for the I.49 working hypothesis

The specific candidate identification of John = Jan Klaessen Kuyper son of the patriarch is FALSIFIED. The I.49 Bergen-NJ Cooper-line landing of Harvey 1900 + the Sisser-correspondence L.13s chain identified a specific candidate couple (Jan Klaessen Kuyper × Tryntje Stratemakers) as Daniel Sr's parents. Three-DRC primary-source consilience proves this couple had no son named Daniel.

Remaining viable hypothesis paths (in approximate strength order):

  1. Daniel Sr ← from a DIFFERENT Generation-B father than John — but: - Cornelius Cuyper × Aeltje Bogaert's attested children at Bergen + Tappan + Hackensack don't include Daniel either - Hendrick Cooper was Y.M. (unmarried) until ~1709-1710 marriage to Jannetje Verkerke = cannot be 1695-Daniel's father - Adries Claesen × Preyntje Vreelant only 1 attested child (Sara 1691 Bergen) - Other Generation-2 sons (Claes Jr, Dirk, Jacob, possibly Adries) have minimal attestation = data-poor, can't confirm or refute
  2. Daniel Sr from a DIFFERENT Cooper line entirely (not Bergen-NJ Claes Jansen Van Permerend's): - The family-tradition "John Cooper of Holland" naming may refer to a different John Cooper not in the Bergen-NJ line - NYC Reformed Dutch Church (= "The Collegiate Church of New York") baptism records 1639-1730 should be checked next - Acquackanonck (Passaic) DRC 1693-1816 should be checked - Long Island Coopers per project pr.27 LI English-colonial Cooper kindred (RESOLVED).md are out of scope
  3. The 1695 birth year of Daniel Sr per I.36 family tradition is approximate — a wider window 1690-1700 could include Generation-3 Cooper grandsons born to other Generation-B sons; or a 1700-1710 window could capture later children
  4. Daniel Sr was born somewhere not yet investigated — could be Schraalenburgh post-1724 (would make 1695 birth year wrong by ~30 years), or upstate NY, or PA Dutch settlement, or NJ inland (Raritan, Six Mile Run, etc. per F.67 Raritan DRC sweep)
