Searched for: HIS 1900 CENSUS ROW - the only census gap on this file; he is in Plevna Twp, Reno Co., Kansas in 1880 ([D.693]) and Lompoc, California by 1910, so 1900 could have been either. FamilySearch historical records filtered to the 1900 census (coll. 1325221): Cooper, given name Andrew, born 1856-1860 in Ohio - 18 results, all read.
Result: FOUND, result 1 → [D.795]. Salt Creek Twp, Reno Co., Kansas, ED 215, sheet 6A, dwelling 112, lines 47-50: head "Cooper, Andrew [C?]", Mar 1859, 41, married 21 years, b. Ohio, FATHER BORN NEW JERSEY and MOTHER BORN PENNSYLVANIA - which is Lewis Sanford Cooper Lewis Sanford (NJ) x Mary Jane (Jones) Cooper Mary Jane Jones (PA) - Farmer, rents, farm schedule 108; wife Hannah A., June 1859, 40, b. Michigan, 4 children born and 3 living; sons Glenn S. (Aug 1882, 17) and Roy O. (Sept 1883, 16), both Farm Laborers, both b. Kansas. Image downloaded from the viewer and filed; lines read on three census_stitch stitches at 2x. FamilySearch's normalised place for this record is "Rawlins, Kansas" and is WRONG - the Event Place (Original) and the sheet itself both read Salt Creek Twp, RENO Co. A place-filtered search would have missed him. His brother Charles Franklin Cooper Charles Franklin Cooper is on the SAME SHEET, line 22, dwelling 106 - six dwellings away. The household is COMPLETE at four people. Line 50 is the last line of sheet 6A, so sheet 6B was fetched and read as well (ark 3:1:S3HT-6LHQ-GF4, image 581, also filed): its line 51 opens a NEW household, dwelling 113 "Wissert, Jacob". Dwelling 112 does not run on. So two things stand as facts of the document: Hannah reports 4 children born, 3 living against only 2 enumerated; and Roly Orvell Cooper Roly Orvell, aged 6 in June 1900, is NOT in his parents' household. Where he was is open. "Roy O., Sept 1883, age 16" is NOT Roly Orvell, though the initials and the birth month both match. Roly Orvell Cooper's 21 Sep 1893 is carried by [G.614] and agreed by three censuses ([D.694] 16 in 1910, [D.696] 36 in 1930, [D.781] 46 in 1940); this sheet gives the month AND the age in two separate columns, both saying 1883. ⇒ an older son, born ten years to the month before Roly Orvell, whom the catalog does not hold. Not given a p.N until sheet 6B is read. Also: the index gives the two sons' ages as 18 and 17 where the sheet reads 17 and 16.
