Searched for: HER 1900 AND 1920 CENSUSES — the two gaps on this file that stood at "no search recorded". Five searches, built so that a wrong or mangled surname could not hide her. 1920, where she should be at Knowlton with her husband ([D.841] 1910 and [D.791] 1930 both put them there): (a)
coll. 6061 ?name=George_Walters&count=50&residence=_warren-new+jersey-usa_3036&residence_x=1-0-0_1-0 — 4 rows. (b) the complete KNOWLTON TOWNSHIP Walters list, ?name=_Walters&count=50&residence=_knowlton-warren-new+jersey-usa_9962&residence_x=1-0-0_1-0 — 4 rows, the whole township. The Knowlton place id 9962 was READ OUT OF THE FORM'S OWN "Lived In" BOX, not guessed — see the note in the result about the attempt that preceded it. (c) THE NAMELESS SEARCH on Knowlton — no name field at all: ?birth=1866_new+jersey-usa&birth_x=1-0-0&count=50&residence=_knowlton-warren-new+jersey-usa_9962&residence_x=1-0-0_1-0 — 43 of 43 rows, EVERY Knowlton resident born about 1865-1867, all read. (d) national, her husband, exact both halves: ?name=George_Walters&name_x=1_1&birth=1880&birth_x=1-0-0&count=50 — 58 rows, BOTH PAGES READ. 1900, when she was 34 and still unmarried: (e) coll. 7602 ?name=Ann*_Cooper&birth=1866&birth_x=1-0-0&residence=_warren-new+jersey-usa_3036&residence_x=1-0-0_1-0 — zero rows; then the given-name-only form, ?name=Ann*_&birth=1866&birth_x=1-0-0&... — 80 rows, BOTH PAGES READ: every Ann* woman in Warren County born about 1865-1867, under any surname.Result: BOTH GAPS NULL, AND THE 1920 ONE IS NOW SURNAME-PROOF. 1920: Knowlton Township held exactly four Walters, and neither she nor George is among them. The nameless search then asked the township without any name at all — 43 people born about 1865-1867, the complete cohort — and she is not there either. Nationally there are 58 George Walterses born 1879-1881 and not one has a wife Anna of her age and birthplace (the only
Anna M among them is wife of a German-born George S. Walters at Sugar Camp, Wisconsin). ⇒ They were not in Knowlton in January 1920, although they are there in 1910 ([D.841]) and 1930 ([D.791]). 1900: no Ann* Cooper of that age in Warren County at all, and the complete given-name band — 80 women — contains nobody identifiable as her. ⇒ At 34 she was not enumerated in Warren County under a recognisable form of her given name. BUT THE KNOWLTON LIST PRODUCED SOMETHING ELSE, AND IT MATTERS MORE THAN THE NULL: "Dupuy S Walters", Head, b. about 1852 PENNSYLVANIA, at Knowlton, with wife "Lizzie R", b. about 1864 New Jersey. That is almost certainly George P. Walters George P. Walters's father Depue S. Walters, whom [G.677]'s family panel names — and [D.841] independently records George's father's birthplace as Pennsylvania, which this row matches. Not asserted: the wife here is Lizzie R., where [G.677] gives George's mother as Mary E. (Mericle) — consistent with a remarriage, but equally consistent with another family. Carried to a todo at George P. Walters. MY OWN ERROR, RECORDED BECAUSE IT IS THE FOURTH OF ITS KIND: the first attempt at the Knowlton list used an invented place id, _knowlton-warren-new+jersey-usa_19777. Ancestry resolved it to tanners-walton-georgia-usa_19777 and returned zero. Caught immediately by reading the slug back out of the returned URL, as the standing rule says to — and that zero was discarded, not recorded as a null, because a zero from a mis-resolved id is a search of somewhere else. The id was then taken from the form properly.ancestry all 2026-10-18 · HER MARRIAGE RECORD TO GEORGE P. WALTERS — the record this file has said since 2026-10-15 would settle her paternity. Searched for: HER MARRIAGE RECORD TO GEORGE P. WALTERS — the record this file has said since 2026-10-15 would settle her paternity. Ancestry coll. 61376 (New Jersey, U.S., Marriage Records, 1670-1965), using the place recipe on the marriage field (verified this morning): (a)
?name=Anna_Cooper&count=50&marriage=_warren-new+jersey-usa_3036&marriage_x=1-0-0_1-0 — every Anna Cooper marriage in Warren County: 12 rows, all read. (b) ?name=_Walters&… same bound — every Walters marriage in Warren: 125 rows over 3 pages; page 1 read, and every row on it falls 1840-1898. (c) The coverage probe, using the UI's own date facet rather than an invented parameter — &record_f=1900-1999 on (b), and again on ?name=_Cooper.Result: NOT FOUND — AND IT IS A COVERAGE GAP, NOT A NULL. That distinction is the whole result. (a) The 12 Warren Anna Coopers hold no Walters marriage; the nearest, Anna M. Cooper x David Sliker, 4 Nov 1866 at Johnsonburg, is a woman born about 1848. (c) The collection holds exactly ONE Warren County Walters marriage from 1900 onward (Arabella Walter x Walter Staats, 12 Oct 1900) and ZERO Warren County Cooper marriages from 1900 onward. ⇒ Coll. 61376's Warren run effectively stops in 1900, despite the collection being titled 1670-1965. She married about 1907 ([D.841]: married 3 years in May 1910). This is the standing "a titled date range is an envelope, not a run" rule, caught by a facet probe costing two searches — and it converts a dead end into an address: the record exists, at the Warren County Clerk or the NJ State Archives, and is not online here. Hand — a live-in farm hand the index's household panel omits. Hers is the only one of the 24 whose husband is a George P. Three things this adds. (1) Married 3 years ⇒ about 1907, which independently confirms the ~1906-08 window [D.791] implied from the ages-at-first-marriage columns. (2) Children born 0, living 0 — childless after three years. (3) Her father's birthplace reads New Jersey, a second census agreeing with [D.791] against [D.790]'s Pennsylvania. AND ONE INDEX CORRECTION: Ancestry reads her age 40 and publishes a derived birth year of 1870. The plate reads 46 at 12x — a closed loop with an ascending entry stroke, not the plain ovals written as 0 in the children's columns of the same row. 46 ⇒ b. ~1863-64, about two years before her stone's 1866; the indexed 1870 is four years the wrong side of it.genealogybank 2026-10-15 · SIGNED IN (chris_2535).
